In spring 2022, we brought Evermade to Bremen, Germany, opening our first international pop-up shop and sharing a bit of our Brighton spirit with a new city. Our goal was to create a welcoming space for people to connect with art, design, and community in a fresh way.
Setting Up in Bremen
Creating the Bremen pop-up was a hands-on effort, led by our Brighton team. From planning logistics to designing the shop layout, we transformed an empty space into something that felt uniquely Evermade. We designed birch plywood furniture specifically for the shop, crafted locally in Bremen and complemented with carefully chosen HAY pieces like lights, stools, and racks. Once the shop was set up, Claire led a local team who kept the space running smoothly and made sure it felt warm and welcoming for visitors.
Art Prints, Gifts, and Unique Finds
The shop was designed around two main offerings: Evermade originals and unique pieces by other makers. Our art prints, greetings cards, and sustainable gifts—each created in collaboration with artists from our roster—brought Evermade’s signature style to the shop. Alongside these were carefully selected bought-in items, each with a story of its own. Every item came with a small plaque sharing details about the artist or maker, giving the shop an intimate and personal feel with no mass-produced products in sight.
Exclusive Exhibitions for a Gallery Feel
Throughout the year, we hosted exclusive exhibitions that transformed the shop into more than a retail space. In the summer, Yosigo’s photography brought fresh perspectives to the room, while Jenni Sparks’ hand-drawn maps in autumn offered visitors a new way to see familiar places. These exhibitions added a gallery atmosphere, giving everyone who walked through the door a little extra to explore and connect with.
Building Community on Bremen’s High Street
The response from locals and tourists was incredibly positive. Faces lit up when people stepped into the shop—Evermade brought something different and refreshing to Bremen’s high street. Our greetings cards became a favourite, quickly topping the list as our best-sellers. When we wrapped up the pop-up in December, teaming up with the local shop Hello Goodbuy added a fitting sense of community and closure.
Reflections on Our Time in Bremen
Looking back on our time in Bremen, we’re grateful for the experience and the connections we made along the way. It’s inspired us to keep bringing Evermade to new places, creating spaces where art, design, and community come together in ways that feel meaningful and welcoming.
