What’s the title of your art piece?

Koala

What’s the meaning/thinking behind your art piece?

A koala, which is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘no water’ or ‘no drink’, draped in her natural habitat and food source of the Eucalyptus leaves, symbolises the mass loss of native Australian flora and fauna in the recent devastating Australian bushfires. This catastrophic event was a global wake up call that climate change is well and truly upon us and we need a global effort to restore our planet Earth.

Describe your style in 3 words.

Botanical, textural, colourful

Who's on your playlist while working on this project?

The Guilty Feminist podcast

Where & what will you be doing at this year’s Earth Hour on 28th March 2020?

At home with my young family reflecting on the inspiring work by individuals, companies and organisations who are leading the way in protecting our planet.

If you could change one thing in this world, what would it be and why?

I would change how we all consume and to question every little thing we buy, use and eat in our daily lives. Questions like 'can I buy this second hand?' or 'how has this been made?' and 'what is the life cycle of this product?'. It's easy to feel powerless when we're in the midst of climate change, but I truly believe we're collectively capable of helping our planet by starting at home.
