Jocelyn Tsaih is an artist with many strings to her bow. Illustrator, animator, muralist, egg-GIF-maker - she ticks them all. Whatever the practice, Tsaih is using graphic simplicity to tackle the complexities of human life.
For our latest artwork series, Rainbow of Hope, we at Evermade asked Jocelyn for her illustrative take on the rainbow - and we're donating 100% of the artwork's profits to NHS Charities Together. You can check out her print below, available for purchase now.
Born in Taiwan and raised in Shanghai, Jocelyn Tsaih went on to cut her teeth at The School of Visual Arts in New York. She has since carved her brand of energetic minimalism into the art industry, working with the likes of The New York Times, Adobe Photoshop, It’s Nice That, GIPHY, and Nickelodeon. These days, the visual artist is based out of Oakland - a Californian homestead that feels in keeping with the light-hearted, radiant quality of her creations.
While Tsaih’s topics-of-choice range from emotions to eggs, her final image is almost always centered around the presence of an amorphous figure - one that is meant to embody the spirit of all beings. As this enigmatic character bounds through her images, Tsaih is left to unpack deeper contemplations - while serving up a healthy dose of humour to boot.

What are the positives you have come across during lockdown and how do you think it will change your point of view in the future?
I'm learning how to manage stress without my usual outlets of socializing and exploring. While I do miss doing those things, I've realized that so much of what I feel is made up in my mind. I think learning how to change my mentality without outside distractions will help me cope with other stressors in the future!
Could you share your playlist for the Rainbow of Hope project with us?
What are you looking forward to most when the lockdown is over?
Seeing my friends. Going out to dance. Being in nature.
What's your message to health workers right now?
Thank you all a billion times for what you do!
For her latest endeavour, Tsaih is lending her endlessly expressive style to our Rainbow of Hope series. With a print that radiates gentle optimism, Tsaih hopes her ‘Rainbow of Hope’ artwork conveys the message that “amidst all the noise, there is still a quiet hope.” One look at Tsaih’s warmly-coloured vista and it’s easy to feel just that.
