Hola Lou | Earth Hour Artist Interview

Tell us about yourself?

I would describe myself as someone really simple in essence, I'm an easygoing person, a mom and an artist/muralist. I am based in Mexico, so my art and persona are very much influenced by its colors, warmth and contrasts.

What’s the title of your art piece?

'Once in a lifetime'

What’s the meaning/thinking behind your art piece?

In this closed environment we call Earth, we all form part of one huge living organism in which every decision, every action and inaction has an immediate effect. It's time to wake up and take back our control over the respect and appreciation we used to have for this planet. We are all one, I believe we have to be united to prevail, I believe it is about time that we realize how lucky we are to be able to experience this once in a lifetime beauty.

Describe your style in 3 words.

Bold, colorful, minimal

Who's on your playlist while working on this project?

Kokoroko, Nathy Peluso, Fela Kuti, Kamasi Washington, Slum Village, Greentea Peng and others.

Where & what will you be doing at this year’s Earth Hour on 28th March 2020?

I'll make a priority to give back a little to this place by planting a bunch of seeds in our garden for sure (we always do anyway). Other than that, probably enjoy life here in Mérida with my family and cats haha. We like to unwind at the pool, play good music and cook local produce veggies on the grill :)

If you could change one thing in this world, what would it be and why?

Our form of government. I wish I could live long enough to see a system that works for and with humanity in every sense of the world, that encouraged people to work together instead of against each other, one that protected life as we know it.
