Amber Vittoria | A Decade of Change Artist Interview

A Decade of Empathy, Amber Vittoria

Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

I am an illustrator living and working in New York City!

What, or who, influence your creative style and/or ethos?

Women in my life, women I read about, and women I pass by out in the world are all inspirations for my work.

What is something that we wouldn’t know about you?

I recently developed a severe nut allergy.

Talk us through your design process, from the initial idea to finished piece.

I begin with sketches, followed by blocks of color, then the final details.

What is your biggest art pet peeve, and why?

I'd say having to wait for things, in general, haha.

What are you most excited about at the moment?

Heading to Shanghai in a few weeks!

Let’s talk more about A Decade of Change. What drew you to collaborate with us on this project?

I love the idea of thinking for the decade ahead, as that's something I haven't done in a while.

What’s the message behind your piece in the collection, and what does it mean to you? What would you like to change over the new decade?

This piece speaks to taking care of my emotional self, taking care of our planet, and having more empathy for others.

Lastly, if you could have one superpower, what would it be?

The ability to fly!
